We recently had an amazing opportunity to provide one of our BPI Certified Energy Audits on a very beautiful and historic home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
The Affleck House was built in 1941 for the Affleck Family on a challenging and stunning piece of land in Bloomfield Hills and served as their family home for more than 35 years. The brick and cyprus home, characteristic of the famed architect’s “Usonian” style was given to Lawrence Technological University in 1978 as a resource for the students and faculty of Lawrence Tech’s College of Architecture and Design.
We certainly feel privileged to have been given the access to this historic home and to have been able to consult on its energy efficiency. We have a short video below that give highlights of our audit inside Affleck House.
If you would like to visit Affleck House in person (Ms. Green recommends it!), Lawrence Technological University offers tours April through November on the 3rd Saturday of the month. Reservations are required so be sure to book early to avoid disappointment! More information and the reservation form are available at http://www.ltu.edu/affleck_house/tours.asp.
